What is the meaning \/ definition of Children Policy in the hospitality industry<\/a>?<\/p>\n

The term children\u2019s policy, refers to the terms that exist for children on the hotels premises. Every hotel<\/a> or hotel chain<\/a> generally has their own policy, depending on the facilities it offers and who its target market<\/a> is, and it may vary greatly by continent and country.<\/p>\n

Concerning the rooms, the children policy generally offers lower rates for children up to a certain age as they do not require their own rooms and are happily hosted in a cot, or extra bed in the parents room. Concerning the premises, in the case of family hotels or family resorts<\/a>, policies might be very lenient \u2013 allowing children to roam free throughout the premises and play everywhere in the building, without the oversight of their parents. Though some areas might be excluded, but must be stated clearly in the children\u2019s policy in order to avoid liabilities. The pool area for example and gymnasium are often out of bounds for children without supervision, due the dangers that they pose for a child are so serious.<\/p>\n

Additionally to this, some hotels such as Adult-Only Hotels, might not allow children of a certain age to stay<\/a> with them as they are not equipped for accommodating children, with their different needs and wants. On the other hand some hotels might specifically specialise on those needs with the creation of children\u2019s menus, family restaurants. This allows the hotel to advertise itself as family friendly.<\/p>\n

Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 Children under 6 years old are allowed to stay in their parents room for free including extra bed and breakfast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Children from 8 to 15 years old \u2013 EUR 15 (per child\/ per night). Extra bed and breakfast included.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Older than 16 years \u2013 EUR 21 (per child\/ per night). Extra bed and breakfast included.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times and may use the facilities until 6.00 p.m., except on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday when they can use the pool until 8.00 p.m. For health and safety reasons children under 16 are not permitted to use the gymnasium and children under 16 are not permitted to use the sauna, spa bath or steam room.<\/p>\n
