What is the meaning / definition of Stay in the hospitality industry?
Stay is the period of time that a customer stays in a guest room of a hotel. Stay is your overnight visit at a hotel where you will need an accommodation to stay regardless of the number of nights.
For example, whether if you are staying at a hotel for 2, 5, 10 days or even 2 weeks, that is still counted as 1 stay. If you visit the hotel 10 times and stay 1 night each time you visit, that will be counted as 10 stays.
This is the reason why hotel businesses also have a ALOS (Avarage length of stay) in order to calculate the length of stay of their guests in the hotel.
